Below minimum the app still runs — it tells you so and indexes patiently rather than refusing. Company servers follow the same shape, sized to the team; that sizing conversation is part of the company licence.

The installer checks for you.

A 15-second benchmark on first runBefore anything is indexed, the installer times your processor and your disk and reads your memory, then says in one sentence roughly how many pages of documents this machine will carry comfortably. No guessing, no surprise on day three.

Sizing the diskPlan for your document library itself plus about 10% headroom for the search index and working cache, and about 6 GB for the application, its runtime and the bundled search models. Measured, the index is small: our 129 GB reference library carries a 2.8 GB index — under 3%. A 100 GB library is comfortable with ~120 GB free on an SSD.

Scanned is the heavy partBorn-digital PDFs index quickly. Scanned pages pass through OCR, which is where the processor earns its keep — a big scanned backlog indexes overnight, then stays indexed; day-to-day additions are unnoticeable.

macOS (Apple Silicon)The reference platform. Scanned-document OCR uses the system's own engine — the best reading of stamped and scanned Arabic we have measured.

Windows 10/11 (64-bit)The same product, same installer experience. Scanned Arabic uses a bundled open OCR engine that reads clean Arabic text essentially perfectly in our tests; on dense mixed Arabic-English lines it is good and improving, and we say so rather than round up. Born-digital PDFs are identical on both platforms.

Intel Macs & Linux serversAsk — the company package covers Linux servers; an Intel-Mac build exists when someone needs it.
